Position: Part-Time Worship Coordinator

Salary: $12,500
Role: This Position Description is approved and maintained by the Board of Elders. After funding has been approved by vote of the congregation, the Worship Coordinator is recommended by a search committee chosen by the elders and moderated by the Senior Pastor, then hired by congregational vote. The Senior Pastor supervises and holds the Worship Coordinator accountable on the basis of this Position Description. The Senior Pastor provides ongoing evaluation and compensation recommendations on the basis of this Position Description, after consultation with the Elder and Trustee Boards. The Worship Coordinator appoints and supervises all worship program heads. The Senior Pastor will give the Worship Coordinator thirty days notice of the Worship Coordinator’s termination. The Worship Coordinator will give the Senior Pastor sixty days notice that the Worship Coordinator is vacating this position.
Goal: The goal of the Worship Coordinator is to be used by Jesus Christ to fulfill Our Vision by planning and leading worship and logistics in BBC worship services.
Responsibilities:
- Live a Christian lifestyle consistent with biblical qualifications for leadership (1 Tim. 3:1-7).
- Coordinate worship activities so that the church family may increasingly love and worship God, love and care for His family, and love and share God with the world, sowing biblical victory to and through each family represented in our congregation.
- Appoint and support the worship program heads. Draw on their wisdom, keep them fully informed, hear their needs, seek to address their concerns, and represent their needs to the Elders and Trustees. Current worship program heads: choir director, special music coordinator, A/V director, ensemble director, children’s music director, Christmas Outreach coordinator, and caroling service coordinator.
- Design Sunday morning Worship services that are:
- Well coordinated among the worship program heads.
- Consistent with the BBC Worship Philosophy. Until that document is approved,
the services will be consistent with these directives:- A blend of contemporary worship songs and hymns
- Reflective of the congregational demographics
- Consistent with BBC doctrine
- Integrated with Pastor’s message/topic when possible
- Participate in the Praise Team and provide leadership by:
- Ensuring musical/vocal quality in Sunday AM services
- Managing the appropriate budget lines assigned by the Elders
- Leading effective and efficient practice times
- Facilitating Praise Team rotations that ensure maximum participation
- Providing venues for congregational members to join the Praise Team
- Provide support and musical leadership to:
- Christmas programs
- Easter Programs
- Other special events as assigned by the Pastor/Elders
- Submit song blocks to BBC secretary with one week of lead time.
- Address technological and musical needs in collaboration with A/V Director and
Trustees. - Meet regularly with the Pastor in order to sustain an integrated approach to music.
- As requested by the Senior Pastor, perform pastoral duties such as preaching,
visitation, and any other duties.
- The Worship Coordinator should invest an average minimum of 8 hours per week in
church ministry. He should submit to the Senior Pastor a summary of how he has spent
his time upon request. He should support all-church functions.
