Setting up My Office

Good Afternoon Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope your week has been productive and that you have found the joy of the Lord to be your sufficient strength. It has been a very busy week for me, here at the church office. I have officially moved all of my books from boxes to shelves, and I have my office basically set up. What a blessing to have a study/work place to call home while I am away from home. While I will continue organizing and categorizing my books, and have more pictures to hang on the walls, please feel free to peek in the office this Sunday and be encouraged.

Amazing to consider that another year is behind us and that we are already one week into a new year. Have you pondered where you want to be or what you want to accomplish this year? God commands us to make the best use of our time and to live wisely in this world because the days are evil (Eph 5:15-16). Making plans and preparing for the days ahead to ensure protection and productivity is a biblical reality, repeated and demonstrated throughout the Scriptures (Prov 16:3; Lk 14:28; Eph 1:10). I have been praying and preparing for this journey we now embark on together, and let me say that I am excited about where we are headed as a church.

This Sunday I will be preaching out of the book of Philippians, as we look specifically at a portion of chapter three, where we will see Paul’s consuming passion to know Christ more. This is a wonderful section of Scripture and one of the most personal and revealing testimonies of Paul. Furthermore, as we immerse ourselves in the Word this Sunday, I will also be clarifying our focus and direction for the year ahead in order that we might grow, even more, in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray you will take time, before Sunday, to prepare your heart to hear from God, through His Word. A great place to start would be reading Philippians chapter three, and contemplating what it means to count all things as loss for the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ!

Exalting the Lord Christ,

Pastor Matt
